Rock the Vote!

Whatever policitical affliation you are - I encourage you to get out and vote! Here is some inspiration from my desk at work - my political pumpkin patch!

Our neighborhood had trick-or-treat this last weekend - it was a cold and windy day, fortunately for Madison, she was a kitty-cat, so she was snuggly warm!

One year pictures - Finally!

I know, I know, it took us forever to go and get these done, and really she was 13 months, but who's counting?? :) As always, she was a little ham, and I am thrilled with how they turned out!
I can't believe she is one already!

Carving Pumpkins!

Madison really got into carving the pumpkins. For such a normally squeaky clean girl, we were surprised, she really got in there and scooped some pumpkin guts out! She also tried to eat the pumpkins guts, but that's another story!

Pumpkin Patch

We went to Swan's Pumpkin Patch this weekend - once Madison woke up (she fell asleep in the car and was non-too-happy when we woke her up to look at pumpkins) - she really enjoyed herself. We had some hot cider and freshly made caramel corn - good stuff!

Happy Birthday, Madison!

One year ago today, I was in labor and ready to have a baby! We woke up at 6:00 AM as usual to get ready for work, I of course was a house and was ready to have a baby! Andrew leaned over to give me a good morning kiss and say good morning to the baby as per the usual then. He patted my belly and said "Okay, Madison, you can come any time now, we are ready for you." I laughed, said "yeah, right." I waddled into the bathroom and heard a pop, my water broke all over the floor.
I opened the bathroom door, Andrew was still sitting on the edge of the bed, kind of waking up. I said, "Um, honey, either I just lost control of my bladder, or my water broke."
"What?! You've got to be kidding me!"

I opened the door and there I stood in a lovely pool of water. Andrew went and woke up his sister, Ashley, who was living with us at the time. That is honestly, the fastest I've EVER seen her get out of bed and be alert! I called the doctor, who, of course, said to get to the hospital.

But, then I panicked. I needed a shower and needed to shave my legs! I took the world's fastest shower and then sat on the edge of the tub desperately trying to reach my legs in an attempt to hide the fact that it had been about 3 months since I could reach my legs to shave.

We hopped in the car with the bags and off we went to the ER to check in. Andrew had me sitting on a pile of towels since we didn't realize that your water keeps regenerating and that if you splashed, you would continue to leak and splash up until you give birth! I scarfed down some granola bars as I knew that they would not let me eat until she was born and I was HUNGRY!

At the hospital they get us into a room and me hooked up to a million monitors, and once I was all settled, I suddenly realized that I had to pee! Again, something I didn't realize - I guess you don't ponder those parts when imagining giving birth to your baby! Off I waddled to the bathroom with a nurse following me mopping up water behind me the whole way. It was quite funny in hindsight!

Fast forward 14 and a half hours and 20 minutes of pushing and the doctor handed me my beautiful baby, Madison.

Madison - you are the love of our lives, you brighten our day just with your smile and your personality grows each day. There isn't a day that goes by, that you don't make me laugh at least once with your great sense of humor and silly antics! I love you. Daddy loves you. Know that always and forever. Thank you for choosing us as your parents. Love, Mommy and Daddy

I'll post some pictures later today when the birthday girl isn't throwing her bananas on the floor announcing "DONE!"

Pictures from Ohio!

Here are a few pictures from Ohio, I'll try to load more later. These are from Madison's first "first birthday" party with our familiy in Ohio. She was completely appalled by the chocolate cake as you can see from the last picture!

We'll be there on Saturday - hope to see some of you this weekend - let me know if you are available!!

Madison has fully discovered the stairs! You look away for more than 15 seconds and the risk that she is half way up the stairs is there! She especially likes to chase the cats up the stairs, all the while shouting "KITTY CAT!" Apparently, she thinks if she shouts at them, they'll come and let her give them a kiss.

Madison loves bath time. It is as simple as that. If you open the door to the downstairs bathroom and she is in the area, you better be prepared to give her a bath or really distract her, because you may not hear anything else, except "DUCK! DUCK! DUCK!" until she gets a bath. I was giving her a bath the other night and got her out of the tub, the next thing you know, like lightening, she was out the door and into the kitchen. A little streaker lives among us! Here are a few of the pictures we caught of her before we wrestled her into a diaper and pajamas. I like how proud she is of herself!

First Steps!

Madison took her first steps this weekend (on her birthiversary, as a matter of fact!) She did take a dig afterwards and isn't so interested in this walking without holding onto something business!
She also "blew a kiss" for the first time today! It was so cute! I was dropping her off at Auntie At-At's (Ashley for those not familiar with Madison-speak) and I blew her a kiss good-bye, At-At asked if Tootie (our nickname for Madison, use your imagination as to why, lol!) was going to blow one back to mommy. She balled up her little fist at her mouth, shouted "MWAH!" and then threw her arm out! I almost cried! Although, I cry about everything, what's new?!

11-month Birthiversary

Today is Madison's 11-month birthiversary! I can't believe that it has been 11 months - it seems like yesterday I was waddling around huge! My baby is crawling, cruising, eating regular food and talking. I am such a pile of emotional mush!
Here is a picture from this morning (she was sharing her banana with me), I will try to post more later!
